Who Is eligible to receive Financial Assistance?
You are eligible to receive financial assistance from the Chambers County Veterans Association if you are:
A former military member (veteran) and a resident of Chambers County, Texas
A military retiree or spouse/widow(er) of a retiree and a resident of Chambers County, Texas
To be considered for Financial Assistance, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
You currently are experiencing severe financial hardship
If you have previously submitted a request for financial assistance with the CCVA, we require you to have completed financial education before we approve any new requests.
You must be the person named on the mortgage, rent, utility, loan, vehicle title, or other bill/invoice presented for financial assistance.
Completion of an Assistance Request form, via our website, located at the bottom of this page
Submission of any one of the following supporting documents emailed to documentation@cc-va.org:
DD214
Military ID
Rating Decision paperwork
If awarded assistance:
Provide the CCVA with any statement or invoice of what you are seeking financial assistance for. (Submit any documentation by email to documentation@cc-va.org)
For awarded amounts over $1000, we require you to seek help from a financial advisor to help set up an obtainable budget. (If you need a financial advisor resource to contact, please let us know.)
If this is your second request for financial assistance, you must provide proof of having received financial education. (A letter or email from the financial advisor will suffice.)
Eligible Services for Assistance Requests:
Mortgage/Rent
Utilities: electric, water, gas, internet, and beneficiary household’s primary user’s cell phone service
Transportation Assistance (Vehicle): necessary repairs within reason, insurance, and loan payments to beneficiaries’ primary vehicle. These payments are per beneficiary household to allow safe travel in support of basic needs, work, school, medical appointments. General maintenance is not allowable.
Drop-in Child/Adult Care: cost to provide services at a licensed day care facility or business. Child/Adult care services are for emergency or last-minute need of care and not for long term care, after school, or summer programs.
Funeral: cost to provide assistance with a veteran’s funeral and interment services (excluding costs for indigent veteran services, receptions, and celebrations of life) to surviving family members who can demonstrate financial need.
Assistance Request Limitations (expenses we will not pay or award):
Expenses related to credit card debt, bankruptcy, or luxury items
Distribution of cash or a cash equivalent to veterans and/or their dependents.
Expenses as a matter of law.
** Please note that while the CCVA wishes we could help all qualified individuals who seek assistance, regrettably we only have limited funds to meet the needs of qualified veterans. Therefore, we can only award requests based upon our available resources.
